What does the search match against?
The full device catalog: brand, model name, model code (e.g. 'A2649'), and any release-year tags. Matching is case-insensitive and partial: typing 'pro 11' finds the iPad Pro 11, and typing a brand finds every model under it.
Does it work with custom or imported models?
Yes. Anything in your model catalog (pre-loaded, imported via CSV, or manually added) appears in search results immediately. No re-indexing step.
Can I customize what appears in the search dropdown?
Yes. Two toggles control what shows up beside each model: the model image and a preview of relevant repairs. You can also pick up to 3 featured repairs per device category (Smartphone, Tablet, Watch, Console, Desktop, Laptop) with drag-and-drop reordering. If you select fewer than 3, RepairPlugin auto-fills the rest.
How many search results show by default?
Up to 10 models, configurable from 1 to 40 under Maximum Search Results. Initial Model Results is set to Auto-select, so the dropdown surfaces sensible suggestions before the customer has typed anything. If you turn on 'Include Repairs' alongside many results, built-in smart caching keeps the dropdown fast.
Is the search translated?
The placeholder text and 'no results' message are translated across all 14+ supported languages. Device names always show in their original brand spelling. They're product names, not localized strings.
Does it work on slow connections?
Yes. The catalog is loaded once when the booking widget mounts, then filtering happens entirely in the browser: no extra request per keystroke. Typical first-paint is under 200 ms even on 3G.
